Welcome to Chateau L'Amarine

Since 1988, Château de l'Amarine belongs to the Dalle Family, who are already the owners of Château de Campuget.

It is situated in Bellegarde, half -way between Nîmes and Arles and only a few kilometres from the right side of the Rhône river.

Our 30 hectares vineyard is situated on one of the best areas of the A.O.C. Costières de Nîmes.

Our wines

Wines of Château de l'Amarine are one of the best "crus" of Costières de Nîmes. But to be sure, the best thing to do is to taste them and come to visit us on the estate, where everyone is always welcome.

Our range of products consists of three AOC 'Costieres de Nimes' :
Cuvée des Bernis rouge, rosé et blanc.

AOC Costières de Nîmes
Cuvée des Bernis Rouge

Wine-Making :
This wine is produced in the traditional way, using stainless-steel tanks with temperature controlled at between 28and 32°C with a long maceration. The two varieties are harvested and fermented at the same time, in the same vat. The wine is kept for 12 months in barrels. A third of the production is placed in new barrels, another third in one-year old barrels and the last third in two-year old barrels.

Wine-tasting :
It is a deep-red coloured wine with an amber hue. The bouquet is intense and complex offering scents of red fruits and hints of cinnamon, leather and vanilla. In the mouth it is powerful, combining roundness with freshness. It has a woody blend and at the end one is left with flavours of black berries and sweet spices.

Ageing :
It is a wine for ageing with a projected maturity of 3 years. It can be kept for almost 10 years.

Served with :
Served at 18°C, it is perfect with red meat or soft cheeses. It is especially recommended with a "Pièce de bœuf grillée et son beurre d'anchois du Grau du Roi".

AOC Costières de Nîmes
Cuvée des Bernis Rosé

Grape-varieties :
Grenache noir (90%), syrah (10%).

Wine-making :
This wine is made by draining off the vat. Colour is obtained through a short maceration of between 4 and 12 hours, according to the sort of grape. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks with the temperature controlled at 18°C in order to extract the maximum aromas. After racking and filtration, the wine is immediately bottled at the Château.

Wine-tasting :
Its colour is salmon pink with orange hue. Its intensive and delicate nose is dominated by fragrances of strawberries and raspberries in harmony with floral notes. In mouth, its an harmonious balance between a pleasant fresh opening and a round ending where persist its fruity flavours.

Ageing :
To fully enjoy its aromatic and fruity character this wine should be drunk in the year following its harvest.

Served with :
Served at 14°C, it is perfect for summertime meals. Its is particularly recommended with a paella made with "Riz de Camargue".

AOC Costières de Nîmes
Cuvée des Bernis Blanc

Grape-varieties :
Grenache blanc (75%), Roussanne (25%).

Wine-making :
This is traditional wine-making . After being gently crushed with a pneumatic press the fermentation takes place on fine lees inside stainless-steel tanks. The temperature is controlled at 18°C in order to obtain the best aromatic extraction. After racking and filtering, the wine is bottled at the Château.

Wine-tasting :
It is brilliant light-yellow-coloured limpid wine. The bouquet is a perfumed mixture of flowers, fruit and fresh almonds, all with a smoked scent. In the mouth the fresh beginning becomes quickly round and one rediscovers the fruity complexity and smoked scent of the bouquet but with the added flavour of pineapple.

Ageing :
This wine is best drunk young for its primary aromas, but 2 or 3 years of maturation will add to its complexity.

Served with :
Served at 14°C, it is perfect with seafood and goat's cheese , such as Pélardon des Cevènnes.
