Prestige Wines

CUVEE PRESTIGE | VIOGNIERE DE CAMPUGET | LA SOMMELIERE| 1753

We are mainly making red and rosé wines. Our main varieties are Syrah and Grenache noir for the grapevines classified in AOC. For our white wines, we principally use Roussanne and Grenache blanc in Costières de Nîmes and Chardonnay in Vin de Pays.

Our wines are produced by respecting tradition as well as utilizing the most modern oenological techniques;

The red wines are vinified in a stainless steel vat, using traditional methods and with control of fermentation temperatures (28°C - 30°C) thanks to a powerful system of climatization. After a demaceration of about 15 to 21 days, the wines are drained and the pomace is pressed with pneumatic pressers.

The wines are blended after each grape variety has been separately vinified and tasted. Only the best are kept for the "Cuvée Tradition". The rest is used for the making of the second wine.

The Rosé wines are produced uniquely by bleeding; ie. the draining of the juices at the time they are in tanks. They are then subjected to very low temperatures (3°C) in order to extract the aromas. The fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures (18°C).

The white wines are pressed using pneumatic pressers after a light skin maceration in order to extract the aromas. Just like for the Rosés, the fermentation process is done under very low temperatures.

All our wines are bottled at our bottling center situated on our estate. They are stored in climatized wine storehouse to preserve their qualities before being shipped throughout the world.

Chateau de Campuget, La Sommeliere

Producer: Chateau de Campuget
Wine: "La Sommeliere" Syrah Prestige
Vintage: 2002
Country: France
Appellation: Costieres de Nimes
Wine Type: Red
Primary Varietal: Syrah
Designation: Excellent Value

Costieres de Nimes is a little known but excellent wine-producing region located on the western bank of Rhone River in Southern France. The "La Sommeliere" wines are the top-of-the-line from Chateau de Campuget, and this is a beauty of a wine, comparable to a Chateauneuf-du-Pape costing twice as much. The wine is a dense, dark, inky purple that exudes fragrant aroma of dark berries, plums, creme de cassis and dried herbs. This is a serious wine with rich fruit flavors backed by firm tannins in an awesome display of both power and elegance. This wine is also built to last - enjoy this one over the next decade.

This wine is made from a selection of the best grapevines in the vineyard. It represents the quintessence of Campuget wines and is the best expression of the 'terroir'. After being made traditionally, the wine is matured for twelve months, half in new wooden barrels and the other half in 'demi-muids'.

This is a dark garnet-red coloured wine with a very expressive scented bouquet that exhales the strong aromas of red and black fruits with notes of vanilla. In the mouth, its structure is concentrated but round. Its very persistent fruitiness leaves an impression of powerfulness which denotes its great potential.

Viognier de Campuget

Viognier Blanc

Viognier (100%) (UPC - 750ML 0 12086 98621 5)

The Viognier is harvested at full maturity around the 15th of September. It is pressed with a pneumatic press. The juice goes directly inside wooden barrels for vinification, during 6 months. When the wine is finished, it is clarified before bottling.

The Viognier Cuvee Prestige exhibits a terrific bouquet of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, peaches, and tropical fruits. Medium-bodied and filled with fruit yet structured, with good underlying acidity to provide freshness and focus, it should be drunk over the next year.
